Picts from Light The Night Walk in Calgary

I thought I would pop in real quick today and share a couple pictures from our walk on Saturday. It was fabulous and I have a wonderful time with my sisters. Oh my goodness there were so many people there, so nice to see that so many people participated in such a wonderful event!!

Here we are being goof balls just after we received all of our incentive goodies and before the walk started...
(I'm in the middle, my sister Kim is on the left (blonde beauty) and Kristy on the right (brunette beauty)

OK, being normal...

And just after we finished our 5km walk in 1 hour!!

The back of Kimberley's car made a fabulous tripod for our self portraits!!

That's all for now, I am working on my High Hopes card for the fabulous new challenge blog...

They have just released over 50 new stamps and they are adorable...check them out!!

Have a wonderful day!!

MIA-What I'm Up To

I just wanted to pop in to say that I am super busy all weekend so I probably won't be back until Monday. Tomorrow both of my sisters and I are doing a 5km walk in honor of my mother-in-law who passed away this past June. She fought leukemia for over 10 years and then was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer last August. In her honor my sisters and I have raised almost $2700 to date and are participating in the Light The Night Walk tomorrow evening. We will carry luminated gold balloons as we walk honoring Ursula. As the walk doesn't begin until 7:30pm, I am going to stay in Calgary at my sister Kim's house for the night, do a Costco trip on Sunday and then come home. So that is my reason for lack of posts, but I will definitely be back at the beginning of the week. I am really looking forward to our walk and spending time with my sisters!!

In the mean time, High Hopes is getting set for another fabulous release and you can check out Nikki and Michelle's blogs for a couple of sneak peeks, this promises to be an awesome release, just like all of the others

Have a wonderful weekend!

SU Mojo Monday

I used this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch #54 from Julee's blog for this card. I really love the colors in this paper, too bad it's retired now, but I still like it. I colored the flower in with my Copics and then added some orange peel stickles on the little thingies in the middle (I forget what the proper name for them is). Two of the brads on the side are a pearly white and the middle one is a pearly pink, not sure if you can see the difference in the photo or not. The DSP is Ginger Blossom from last SU catty and Groovy Guava and Whisper White cardstock.

Short and sweet post today as I have a splitting headache and am going to have a little lay down while Landon is sleeping...maybe Kirsten will come too:-)

I have passed my 1000th comment now!! Yahoo!! Now not too far away from 10 000 hits...I am thinking of a fun little challenge for it too...maybe a sketch challenge, or something, what do you think??

Thanks for visiting!!

Giddy Up~SC195

I can't believe I actually completely finished a SCS sketch card on the same day...well same day for me...probably tomorrow already for most of you! I really love this stamp set, there are even a couple more stamps that have not seen ink yet, but they will in the not so distant future I'm sure. A set like this works so well with our lifestyle, so I'm sure it will get a ton of use!
The card is actually quite big, I made it 6" x6" to accommodate most of the poem on the front panel, it still didn't fit in my 3.75" square but I really wasn't making it any bigger:-) I ran the Twilight paper through my CB with the Paisley folder! I really love that folder lately! The papers are all from the Sasparilla paper collection from CTMH as are the edge anchors and the stamps are from Unity.
Kirsten is done school for the week which is so nice to just be at home tomorrow anyway...I have laundry calling my name...I don't have a problem washing, drying and folding it, but man I dread putting it away..I guess that's why both Landon and Kirsten each have a basket full to be put away! Oh well...I don't think it will be that long and Kirsten can start putting her own clothes away. She does help out now, but I don't think I would trust her efforts if I left the whole basket to her:-)
I am creeping up on my 1000th comment!!!! (yes I know I am a nerd for keeping track, but when I started my blog I didn't really think anyone other than my obligated sisters and close friends would visit) so I will have a special treat for the lucky 1000th commenter...soon, it will be soon, it's very close already!!
Have a great evening/morning and thank you for stopping by!!

Charming Edwin & Blog Candy!!

I made this card for this weeks A Spoon Full Of Sugar challenge, which was to use either a charming character or charms on your card, I did both!! I also used last weeks Sketch Saturday Sketch # 16 for the layout. I really think Charming Edwin is too cute!
Just a quick post this afternoon! I just got home from picking Kirsten up at school and need to get the house vacuumed and supper going before Lance gets home:-)
Oh right, before I forget, you have to head on over and enter Michelle's Hee Haw Blog Candy and Carole's Trick or Treat Blog Candy!! They are both fabulous!! Good luck!!
Thanks for stopping by!!
~Kelly
Recipe:SU Wild Wasabi, Temping Turquoise, Real Red, East Coast Prep DSP, Wausau Bright White Paper for the stamped image, colored Edwin in with my Copics...had some colors bleed by his chin...but I think more my fault than the papers:-) I did put stickles on his wings although you cannot see them in the picture...that's because I totally forgot about it until after I took the picts! SU Photo Corner Punch, CTMH Connections Club Charm, Making Memories Rhinestone Brad.

An award and.....I've been tagged!!

I received this fun award from Nikki and Jeanette! Thank you ladies both so much, you make me smile!!
I would like to pass this fun award onto everyone that visits me and leaves such wonderful comments...even those lurkers that don't comment too...come on, pop by and say hello!! Also to Jenna
back to Nikki and Jeanette
and pretty much all of the blogs I have listed on my blog roll because they all make me smile!!
Tag, I'm It!!
Here are the rules:
1. Link your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
First off, I have been tagged by: Lacey, Lynn, Jeanette & Karin, thanks ladies, here it goes!!
1. I LOVE anything maple...maple syrup, maple doughnuts, especially Canadian Maple doughnuts from Tim Horton's, maple cookies, etc...maple is wonderful!
2. I really love music. I can not sing and I can not play an instrument, but I love all country music. As of lately I have recently downloaded some fun tunes from iTunes that I wouldn't normally listen to, but Claudia and Jenna have some funky music on their blogs and I really liked it!
3. It drive me batty when my husband always asks "what do you mean"...well I generally mean what I say like...can you make sure the kids are in bed by 8:30... means just that!!LOL!! I think he does it out of habit, but it still drives me bonkers!!
4. I love the colors blue and white (for clothing)...for a while there I think my Mom and sisters thought those were the only colors that existed my world..while I still gravitate towards them both, I will branch out a wee bit and buy something other than those 2 colors.
5. My SBS sister Lainy sent me the most wonderful chocolate bar in the entire world, I love it and while I wanted to stash it away and not let anyone have any, I did share and my hubby and kids loved it just as much. It's called Heaven...no kidding.. and I think it's made by Nestle..anyway she sent it to me for my birthday all the way from Scotland and all I have to say is I gotta get me some more!!
6. I seriously spend too much time on the computer browsing other people's blogs....but it's great fun, you get a ton of great inspiration and my kids are fed and watered for the most part..he he!!, so we're doing ok.
7. I really can't think of anything else totally random, so that's all for me!!
Now I am going to be a party pooper and not tag anyone for this because I've seen it floating around for a bit and love every one's tidbits already!!
Have a wonderful evening!!

Thinking of the Janzen/Ginther Families

I made this card for the Janzen/Ginther families in Saskatchewan. You may have read about them on Julie's blog, and if not, you can do so here. Her pastors daughter-in-law is currently battling cancer and has 2 very young children. Julie has put a call out for cards to send to these families to let them know that everyone has them in their thoughts and prayers. I thought that since cancer touches the lives of so many, including our family with the recent passing of my mother-in-law, I would definitely send a card.
We actually made this card last night at my friend Nikki's house for our CTMH night. It is the Joy Fold Card from SCS. Beate's tutorials are wonderful as you all know!! Very fun and different from the everyday card.
I really love this paper, it it's called Boom-Di-Ada and is from CTMH. Rather bright and cheery compared to the other cards I have seen that are being sent in, but I thought that it would definitely bring a smile to their faces when they open it because of the lovely colors, I sure hope I'm right.
Here is the view when it's opened....

If you have a chance to make a card to send to these families, please click here for the address.
I've been tagged several times in the last week and have a fun award to share as well, so I'll post that a little later on!

Have a wonderful day!

Happy 65th Larkin!!

Hello, hello! I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!! We didn't really do much of anything here today. Lance tidied up around the yard and that's about all.
Tomorrow is my FIL's 65th birthday, so I made this card for him. We are all going for brunch tomorrow along with my SIL, niece, Lance's aunt Linda and a few other friends. We bought him a digital picture frame and I already uploaded it with pictures for him, so he just can plug it in and away he goes.
I used my friend Nikki's sketch and really like it. She has just started a new blog for all her sketches and has some really awesome ones!! Her main blog rocks as well!
I embossed the main image with Espresso embossing powder and used all CTMH papers from the Sasparilla pack, love those!! I then used my new Unity stamps for the 2 circle embellies up in the corner. I put the Happy Birthday sentiment on the inside as I didn't really leave enough room on the front. I actually finished the inside of the card as well, but totally forgot to take a picture...
Off I scoot to get the children..and hubby too....in to bed, it's waaaaaay past their bedtime, good thing tomorrow isn't a school day:-)
Have a wonderful evening and a great Sunday!

Double Challenge~ SC194 & A Spoon Full of Sugar

I just finished up my card for this weeks SC194 sketch as well as the challenge over at A Spoon Full of Sugar . The Spoon Full challenge for this week was to make a Christmas card, so luckily I was already heading in that direction with this weeks sketch challenge and was able to combine them. Voila...here's my finished card!

I used Charlotte and her cute kitty from Whiff of Joy and colored them in with my Copics, added some stickles, dew drops and a pretty CTMH snowflake and that's about it. The sentiment is from Whiff of Joy as well and was tucked in with a beautiful snowflake in my last order, thanks Katharina!!

I am definitely learning new things with my Copics. They do not work as well on watercolor paper as they do on Bazzill Coconut Swirl or even SU Whisper White. I have read that Neenah Classic and PTI are great as well as Wasau paper, so I'm going to continue my experimenting, but I do LOVE them!!

Thank you for visiting today!! Have a wonderful evening!!

Tee Hee Hee~Pretty Pressings Sketch Challenge & Blog Candy

How cute is this Tilda?? She is one of the new Tildas in the Fall Magnolia Kit and I think she's simply adorable giggling away.

Claudia has a fantastic sketch and blog candy for up grabs and that's what I used for this card. I left a sentiment off as I'm not sure who will be the recipient or what for purpose;-)

Here is Claudia's sketch:
and here is my card...

I really love this Fancy Pants paper, great, fun, fall colors. I added some sparkle with a Stardust Glitter pen to her dress and added dew drops at each side for my embellishment (which is the "e" on the sketch)

Short and sweet today, I'm off to get supper going so it'll actually be ready when Lance gets home.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful evening!

SFYTT~Flowers For You

Hello, hello!! We had a blast at Calaway Park! The kids had so much fun. It was so nice for Landon to be able to enjoy some rides this year. It was a very long day and both of them aren't feeling well, but it was a ton of fun. Not sure if we'll get a chance to go again before the season is over, but we'll see. I'll post some picts probably tomorrow at some point. It was gorgeous weather yesterday as well as today, 28 degrees C here today, fantastic for September weather in Alberta!

I made this card for Lance's Grandma as she has recently had some health issues. She is home now and feeling ok. We did go and see her a couple weeks back when we went to see my Grandma in the hospital after she broke her hip, but I just thought I would make her a card to let her know that we're thinking of her and tuck some picts of the kids inside.

I was lucky enough to receive fabulous goodies, cards and stamped images from my SBS 15 sisters for my birthday and this handsome dude is one from
Lainy (along with the best chocolate bar I have ever eaten in my life...yes I did share...a little). He is so fun and cute and perfect to send to Lance's grandma. I have no idea who he is made by, his name or anything, but I liked him! This was the first chance I had to color with my Copics and I am happy with the way it turned out. Definitely a learning curve, but one that I can hopefully figure out sooner than later.

Thank you so much for stopping by...can you believe that this is my 125th post, wow!! I wasn't even sure if anyone would read my blog:-) Blog candy will be coming at 10 000 hits!

~Kelly

**ETA** I found out from my sweet friend Nikki that this image is a Sugar Nellie stamp and his name is Hamish, so cute he is!!

I included it in the title but forgot to mention in my post that this is actually a sketch from Jen's blog for her Sketch For You To Try Saturdays!

Look at what I have!!

I'm so excited.
...
...
...
my Copic markers are here. I still have a few more coming as they were out of stock when I placed my order, but will will ship them out as soon as they receive them. For some reason they seem to be mostly browns that were out of stock...so for now I guess my people will have blonde hair and grey shoes!! I so many people that have them and have had them for quite some time, but I finally found a Canadian retailer that sold them and for a really great price with free shipping...works for me!! They only have the Ciao ones, so that's what I went with.
I just have them in this little tray thingie for now because I don't really know what I should put them in, so if you have Copics or any markers for that matter, please let me knwo how you store them so I have some ideas...please.
I also got my new Whiff of Joy stamps and have them mounted but not yet inked up. Willow is gorgeous and the angels are so beautiful...fabulous stamps!!
Tomorrow we are off to Calaway Park with the kiddos. We have had seasons passes all year, but for some reason or another the summer ran away from us. They are only open a few more weekends before they close until next May, so we thought we might as well get our money out of our passes and take the kids. They are so excited to go, so it should be fun!! I'm going to take my new camera and should get some great picts...so sadly my new stamps won't see any ink until next week!
Thanks for popping in....

SC193~Snowball Fight!!

I had a chance to play with this week's sketch over at SCS! Here is what I came up with using Charlie from Whiff of Joy.
I used my Swiss Dots CB folder to emboss the front of the card, then colored Charlie in with my CTMH Markers. I applied Liquid Applique and white fun flock to the snow and snowballs and waited overnight for it to dry (because that's what the instructions said and this is the first time I have used it...) and then heated it up this morning. I love the way it puffed up! Here's a close up...hopefully you can see the puffy, fuzzy snow...
The sentiment from High Hopes is actually stamped in the same blue ink as his hat and jeans are colored in, but the picture doesn't show it quite like that for some reason.
That's all I have for today...am hoping once the kiddos are in bed for the night that I can get some cards or at least a card done!
Thank you for visiting!!

Trimming the Tree

I finally had a chance to ink up my Whiff Of Joy stamps...my goodness, I love them!! I am hoping to have my new ones this week as well...I checked yesterday and they weren't there, so I hope they will be by Friday!!
Anyway, onto the card.. I used Charlotte Decorating the Tree from Whiff of Joy as well as a sketch from my friend Nikki for this week's A Spoon Full Of Sugar Challenge. It's a super sketch, go and check it out...AND while you're over there visiting, she is also celebrating 20 000 hits and has some fabulous blog candy up for grabs!!

I used lots of stickles on here too...red for the garland on the tree, the holly berries in her hair and a couple of ornaments and then stardust for the star on top and the remaining ornaments. I love how it turned out...just don't seem to have patience for the stickles to dry!!

Thanks for stopping by today, I'm off to get supper going:-)

Baby Frame For Bryce

Hey everyone, I hope all is well where you're at!! It's late here tonight, but I just thought I would get this up here!

I finally finished the frame I was working on for Miss Plicka, Kirsten's ballet teacher. She had a baby boy back in April and thought I would make a frame for her....as I do for every wee one!! Bryce's room is done with Espresso furniture and kinda limey green walls with zoo critter bedding and such, which seems to be so popular these days. So this is what I cam up with. I really love the zoo critter paper from DCWV Nana's Kids stack, but I just got in DCWV Baby Boy Nursery Stack from 7 Kids College Fund and thought I would give this one a whirl....I really like it too! It's hard to spruce up a boy frame with doo dads, ribbons and bling, so I just used a few things. Here are better pictures of the silver metal charms and the little clear love embellie(sorry for the glare).

And here is the finished frame. I bought these funky frames from Michaels when I was down in the stated this summer for holidays and I really like them a lot more than the usual ones I find at Michaels up here...maybe next time I'll see if they have some of these ones in Calgary.

Off I go, it's almost 11:30 and I need some sleep!! Thanks for visiting me here today!

My How Fast They Grow Up

Today was Kirsten's first day of Kindergarten and she absolutely loved it...so much so that when I dropped her off, she took off running and didn't even worry about a goodbye hug or anything! I'm good with that though! Here are some pictures form this morning...they were being goof balls and had a ton of fun! Kirsten likes to pose for the camera lately and Landon thought he would try too....
My school girl!
The 2 of them being goofy!
A close up of my girl!!
Landon "posing" with Kirsten
Side Pose...see, see I told you she likes to pose!!
Zippidee-Doo-Daa....
Biiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggg HUGS!!!
Not sure why some of them seem a bit fuzzy..anyway! I was playing around with some funky frames too...
Thanks for popping in tonight!! I am just finishing up some final touches on another baby boy frame I'm making....I need some baby girls to come into this world...I have made a bunch of frames the past while and they were all for boys. My sister Kim's friend Steph is due pretty much any day know, so I'm crossing my fingers it's a girl!!
See you tomorrow!

Speedy Recovery

I made this card last night for my Grandma. I used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #55 and had fun with it, it's a really great sketch and I will definitely be using it again.
I was going to go and visit my grandma today, but Lance is actually going to Calgary for work tomorrow and was going to see his grandma anyway (if he feels better and isn't still so stuffy), so I decided that instead of making 2 trips, that the kids and I will just go tomorrow afternoon to the hospital to see my grandma, then meet Lance for supper and then go and see his grandma after supper, that way both great grandmas get to see the kids...and I don't have to cook supper;-)
Well the countdown is now on for Kirsten to start school. She is so excited about only having 3 more sleeps until her first day of kindergarten (orientation day) and gets to see her best buddy Olivia!!
Well, off I go to get on with the rest of my supper for tonight...roast is in the oven, I need to get some potatoes peeled, and Landon's favorite...gravy, Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower...weird favorites for an almost 3 year old, but he loves it, so it works for me!!
Thanks for stopping by and hope you're having a fabulous Monday!!
~Kelly
