Special Present for my Hubby

Tomorrow will be 7 months since my mother in law Ursula passed away. After you loose a loved one you do carry on with life, etc, but it is absolutely amazing how many things just in our home make us think of Ursula on a daily basis. She made beautiful quilts, both Landon and Kirsten have theirs on their beds, Lance has one as well that she had made for him just before I met him. We have a few decorations up right now since I still have all of my Christmas decorations out, so every time I walk down or come up the stairs or turn the lights on, I see a beautiful Santa she made for me hanging on the wall, an gorgeous blue angel hangs over by the phone, etc.

Lance loved his almost daily conversations with his Mom on his way home from work and of course she was an amazing cook/baker, actually anything she did, she did so well. Lance went to Germany in April/May 2007 for 2 weeks with his Mom and I know that trip will always hold a special place in his heart.

I decided to make a couple of projects for Lance for Christmas this year. One is this frame...

A few of these pictures are from our wedding ad the others are from their trip to Germany last year. I printed them all in black and white and used papers and some chipboard embellies from a Breezy Designs kits...the paper is called Grandma's Curtains and Grandpa's shirt, I thought that was so ironic once I looked at it when I as making this layout.

I am not a master scrapbooker by any means but Lance absolutely loved it, so boo boos and all, I love it too!!

Off I scoot!! We are just watching the Calgary Flames vs Edmonton Oilers hockey game...GO FLAMES GO!! Right Dawn?!?! Just teasing!! Our dinner was wonderful! Of course the kids wouldn't eat any lobster, but the tenderloin was awesome!! I think I have the munchies now though....

Happy New Year everyone and may 2009 bring you a year full of health and happiness!!

Special RAK Request

Well, I am so far behind in my blog reading...actually not too bad, but I definitely need to catch up on the commenting end of things, I have some great stuff starred (in my Google Reader) just need to get back to it...I'm coming ladies, hang in there!!

In reading tonight, I came across this post from Lauren Meader-My Time...which lead me to this post by Ellie-Adventures with Ellie. Things like this just tug at my heart strings and honestly not because she is giving away what sounds like will be some great loot, just because I am sure it would make Garrett's day and his families when he receives a ton of cards!! He loves Nascar and the color blue, but go on over to Ellie's blog, she has more info listed there as well as her email address (to get the mailing address).

We all ventured out today and went to Medicine Hat to Costco...didn't really get anything exciting, just the usual goodies, but the kids were pretty excited that now we have a fridge full of fresh fruit!

We are just hanging out at home tomorrow just us which will be nice. We bought some tenderloin and lobster tails, so that will be our yummy New Year's Eve dinner...I can't wait!

I would like to wish each and every one of you a very Happy New Year and may 2009 be the best year ever! Thank you so very much for all of your support, kind comments and wonderful friendship!

P.S. I'll be back tomorrow with the present I made for Lance...

Matilda Muffinbread Birthday wishes

How cute is she...I finally inked up one of my new stamps from Stamping Bella and this is the one I chose. I have a few birthdays coming up right away at the beginning of January, so I thought I better get going on cards to send off!!

I stamped Matilda (she is one of the chichiboulie fairies) on shimmery white cs from SU and colored her in with my Copics. I used my new Washington Apple DSP from SU as well...love that paper!! I used liquid applique on the muffin top (or cupcake top) and puffed it up, so it looks fun and fluffy IRL. I used a HB stamp from Aud Design for the sentiment and my Build-A-Brad set from SU for the brads int he center of the flowers. The flowers are Prima and Bazzil.

The layout is a sketch from Jen's SFYTT from last Saturday, but thought it worked great for this card!

We had a fabulous past couple of days with family for the holidays!! I think we all got spoiled rotten this year, lots of fabulous gifts all around!! Kirsten got a PINK DS from Lance and I and she is the happiest little girl in the world. It's crazy how she knows her way around it so well for being so young!! Not that the DS is Kirsten's favorite, but I really think she thought she would never get one so it was a great surprise. Her face just lit right up when she opened it! Not really sure what Landon's favorite item would be, he is pretty easy to please, he loves his new cowboy boots and spurs, his new truck (has to be Dodge!!) and horse trailer, all his new animals are awesome too, but he loves everything!!

Thank you for hanging in there with my while I was running around like a crazy lady trying to get healthy (finally I feel great, but Lance has what I had....), my shopping done, etc. It feels like I haven't posted in forever, but all is good now!!

Hugs,
Kelly

Happy Holidays Everyone!

I do have some things to show you but they are for Lance for Chritmas and he does pop in here every once in a while so I think I'll wait until after Christmas to post them, just to be safe.

While we were in Vegas my sister Kim took the kids to the mall to visit Santa so I thought I would share this pict with you. This is the first time Landon has been to see Santa and only the second time for Kirsten. I thought the pict turned out ok!

Oh man! I still feel terrible, I am really hoping this head/sinus cold, terrible cough and sore throat (yes I'm whining, but it really sucks to feel this crappy) is gone by Christmas Eve so I can enjoy the night with the kids, Lance and Lance's Dad Larkin and then Christmas Day with my family. I was up late last night and finished up all of my wrapping, which is actually pretty good for me. Usually I would leave it until the 24th and that's only because I have a very curious 3 year old little boy that thinks Christmas should be every day, so if the gifts are under the tree beforehand, I would be re-wrapping constantly.

One that note I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday season and all the best to you and your families for a fabulous year ahead in 2009!

Birthday Wishes for Abby

It was my niece Abby's 12th birthday on Friday and this is the card I made just for her!
I used a sketch by Heather Huggins that was for a Whiff of Joy challenge I beleive. I did use a Whiff of Joy stamp too, she's so pretty!! I really love this paper from CTMH too, it's called Perfect Day. The sentiment and oval stamp are from verve Visual and the little metal tokens are from CTMH. I used my Happy Birthday CB folder and ran the Juniper piece through the CB, added some wee little rhinestones to the right of the image and used my stardust gliter pen on the flourishes of her pants.
Landon has a terrible cough and runny nose, Kirsten still has a lingering cough and I have a rotten head cold!! I was hopeing to get my Christmas shopping finished up yesterday but it was -34 C here, so along with the fact I wanted to saty in bed all day, I didn't go anywhere. I am hoping to get it all done this weekend...which I know is going otbe crazy out there, but oh well!!
I hope you are all in the holiday mode!! Thanks for visiting, come back soon!!
~Kelly
P.S. To my secret sister out there...I am so stumped as to who you are, but THANK YOU so much, I am looking forward to broswing their collections of stamps and doing some shopping!! I love the e-cards too...at first I thought it was some rotten spam until I figured it out!!
Now to the secret sister I am to send to, bare with me, I haven't gone anywhere, but hope to get out on Wednesday if I feel better and I will get your package sent off then....it may be a tad later that I had originally planned, but it'll be there!!

You're On My Mind

Since February/March of this year, I have belonged to a Close To My Heart club and once a month we all meet at my friend Nikki's house. November was our last month for this year and hopefully we will start up again in Feb/Mar of '09. I guess the reason I am telling you this goes along with this card. In our group there are 2 sisters, Sarah and Karman who are both a lot of fun. Sarah and her husband Mark welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Veronica on Feb 29 of this year and her younger sister Karman makes absolutely beautiful cards, actually anything she creates is fabulous. Sadly Karman passed away on Sunday after a fierce battle with some health issues that have plagued her for a while now. I made this card to send to her sister Sarah as I am unable to attend the service which is actually today and wanted her to know that I am thinking of their whole family at this very difficult time.
Everything I used is SU including the cute little flourish die cut thingies which are from one of the Sizzix dies, love them!! I added Stardust stickles to them after I glued them down. I stamped the image in Chocolate first and then soft sky and the same with the sentiment, not sure if you can see if well enough though. It was stamped on SU Shimmery cs and along with the stickles, it is really beautiful IRL! I think this pict captures the shimmer from the paper as well as the glitter from the stickles.
That's all I have for today. While I am here though I thought I would take a moment to mention that my posts may be rather sporadic as we are getting ready for the holiday season and such. Kirsten only has Mon & Wed left of school and then she is off until Jan 5th. I am so excited about that and really hope both of them enjoy sleeping in...I know I will...if I can convince them too!! I still have some shopping to take care of and hope to get that done this weekend. We are inf or some crappy winter weather though...about -25 C all the way to -40 C with the windchill...yikes...I think I'll be staying close to the fireplace if that 's the case!!
Have a super weekend and thank you for visiting!!

Burried Under My Laundry Pile

Yikes!! That's exactly where I am. We got home last night and I was gone the majority of today getting groceries and such, then scooped Kirsten from school. My laundry pile is scary and that's only laundry from Lance and I!! My Mom had all the kids laundry done when they came home. So while I do have some cards I need to get done for some special people, it may be a day or 2 before I am back at it.

Kirsten has her first school Christmas concert tomorrow night and I am so excited to see it. The kindergarten class sings 2 songs and they will be dressed up as carolers, how cute!! Both the kids also have skating from 5:30 until 6:15 then over to the school for 6:30 and the Christmas concert starts at 7pm...it'll be a super busy day...but fun for sure!!

I will be back just as soon as I can get some household chores done!!

Presents Anyone???

How cute is this?? I love it!! I was over checking out Angie Kennedy Juda's Chic N Scratch blog again and saw this card that was made by one of the gals at a shoebox swap she was at and decided I need to make one of them too....

I just love the lid tipped off and the tissue paper peeking out...so something my children would do!!

I love the DCWV Christmas Glitter stack and these papers are from there. I used my threading waters border punch by Fiskars and the sentiment is from a CTMH set called Christmas Scripts. I inked around the edges of the box and lid just to give it a bit more dimension, but I really love this card!!

Have a super day and thank you for swinin' by....

A Snowflake Christmas

Hey, hey, hey there!! I whipped up this card super quick and I got the idea from a card I saw in this months issue of Cards magazine. It's on page 33 and made by Sherri Barron.

I really loved the simplicity of it and the crisp look. Off course mine looks totally different, but if you have a chance and get the Cards magazine, check it out and if not...well here is my version for your viewing pleasure...

Similar colors to my No Peeking card and that's because I absolutely love CTMH Twilight!! My biggest problem with this one is that I had to finally heat set the SU craft white ink cause I was getting it all over everywhere!! I put some waterfall stickles in the centre of the snowflake and used some gorgeous ivory May Arts ribbon.

That's all for today, thanks for checking in with me!!

Viva Las Vegas!!

Well off we go...our flight leaves super early this morning so I am definitely looking forward to a sleep this afternoon already!! I will not be able to access the internet for the simple reason that while I love you guys, I am not spending $5 for 5 minutes of internet time at the hotel internet kiosk...so I will be catching up on my blog reading/commenting when I return...Dec 10 or a day or 2 after that by the time I get unpacked and back into the swing of things!

I do have 2 cards to show you and have them scheduled for later this week!!

See you soon!!

Kelly

Just a quick shout out to my lovely sisters Kristy and Kim and my parents who are looking after our children while we are gone, love you all!!

No Peeking!!

Here's another Christmas card...I still need some more, so you'll be seeing more Christmas cards from me yet!!

I used all CTMH supplies on this one AND no sketch of anyone's (shock I know)!! The stamps are all from the same set...No Peeking by CTMH, the pattern paper is from the Aspen collection and the ink is Chocolate and Twilight. Some stickles on the bow and I ran the Colonial White piece through the CB with the Swiss Dots folder. This one would actually be not too bad to mass produce, a little bit more time consuming, but not too bad if you were to set up and assembly line!!
I better get back to work and get some more things crossed off my to-do list before we go!!
Have a super week and thanks for stopping by!!
