DDCC 86-Operation Write Home

Photobucket
I was contacted a while back by Jan from Operation Write Home asking if I would like to have our Dutch Dare blog participate in the birthday celebration of Operation Write Home.  I thought it would be a great idea to help get some cards made for the many US soldiers that are currently deployed around the world.  Now although I am Canadian and this is a US based program,  I jumped at the chance to help out.  I think it's a fantastic organization doing such a wonderful thing!  If any fellow Canadians out there know of a similar set up here in Canada, please let me know.

I went with a Thinking of You card, but all types of themes are always required: birthday, specific holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc), general, thank you, anniversary, love, etc.  My card is A2 size as well.  It felt funny to make a card this size, mine are usually 6" x 6", but there are some specific requirements when making  cards for OWH, so I made sure to follow them.

I also made a birthday card as well:

Here's a bit more about this fantastic organization:

Operation Write Home is an organization that sends blank handmade greeting cards for all occasions to deployed service members to write home on. They’ve mailed approximately 500,000 cards so far—and are still going strong! Our challenge to you is to make cards to send to them for our nation’s heroes.

Please read the basic guidelines here; it’s important especially to remember that glitter is NOT allowed (it’s a safety hazard to our heroes), handmade cards only, and OWH needs A2 sized cards. “Operation Write Home” needs to be on the backs of your cards—it can be stamped, handwritten, or printed on labels. Please include a packing slip inside your box or envelope, and mail them to any of their shippers listed on the Mailroom page. In your package, you can also include http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/2009/09/anyhero-cards-q.html”>notes written to a deployed service member.

So hope on over to the Dutch Dare challenge blog to participate with us.

Hugs,

***This is my second post today, please scroll down for some Top 10 Best Selling Album fun from Studio 313!***
Recently I bought one of the brand new Rachelle Anne Miller stamps made exclusively for Paperworks Co and decided to join in the fun of the blog hop that's happening today.  Things kind of got mucked up a bit so I am not actually on the list, but if you start here, you will find my card and the complete hop list!

Check out the hop participants for some great work!
These images are too cute and they come with a co ordinating sentiment, how fun is that!!  I really should of stamped my sentiment on the top part, but I will stamp happy Birthday on the inside!

I used last week's sketch from Get Sketchy for my layout.

Happy Weekend everyone!

Hugs,
